Ah lovely reeds! When playing the clarinet, reeds will be the babies you care for. You want them to be there for you and help you play and sound your best. One of the simplest things you can do to encourage your reeds to be their best is to properly store them.
What does “properly” store them mean? Well, let’s look at what storing them incorrectly/with little care looks like. Here are a few of the more common examples:
Leaving your reed on your mouthpiece after you’re done playing
Tossing the reed into your clarinet case without any protection whatsoever
In order to create the most comfortable environment for a reed, I recommend making an effort to give them a proper home. This “home” will include a nice bed to rest in, humidity control, and protection.
Reed Case
The reed case is your reed’s “bed” to rest in after a nice, long playing session. Reed cases provide your reeds with a flat, aerated surface to dry evenly and prevent mold from occurring.
Two-Way Humidity Control Pack
We’re looking to make sure that our reeds are able to rest in an environment that’s got a consistency humidity. This helps prevent inconsistencies with the playability and response of your reeds.
